Kings face elimination in Game 6

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Kailer Yamamoto scored the game-winning goal late in the third period as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-4 on Monday night, taking a 3-2 lead in their first-round playoff series.

With the win, the Oilers can eliminate the Kings and advance to the second round with a victory in Game 6 on Wednesday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Yamamoto's goal came with just over three minutes remaining in regulation, breaking a 4-4 tie. The Oilers had trailed 3-2 entering the third period but rallied to tie the game on goals by Evan Bouchard and Leon Draisaitl.

Stuart Skinner made 33 saves for the Oilers, while Pheonix Copley stopped 28 shots for the Kings. The Kings took an early 2-0 lead but the Oilers came back to tie the game before the end of the first period on goals by Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid.

The series now shifts to Edmonton for Game 6, with the Kings facing elimination. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. MT on Wednesday night.
